I am mostly a landscape photographer but I dabble a little in wide-field astro, street photography, wildlife (+ macro), and architectural subjects such as in my "House of Worship" series. The equipment that I use are a Nikon D4 and D800 -- two older DSLR bodies that have served me well over the years. My favorite focal lengths are 35 mm and 50 mm, the former being my current go-to lens which just happens to be a budget friendly Rokinon/Samyang manual prime. All of my images are edited using two open source software applications; Darktable and GIMP. I'm passionate about the idea of "free" software and I encourage anyone to use libre licensed products whenever it makes sense to do so.

At the beginning of my journey, back in 2016, I purchased my first consumer grade digital camera with a lens kit, not knowing then, that this would become a life-long pursuit. Today, I am trying to practice Intentionality within my photographic works while also honing in on a style that fits with who I am and what my values are. After learning the technical aspects of actually making correct exposures, this is perhaps the single most difficult new challenge for me. Not just discovering my style, but discovering what excites me... that special something that makes an image compelling, engaging, and that tells an interesting story.

Along for the journey is my friend and mentor who is himself a talented photographer and expert in developing film. You can check out his work at https://www.rmerz.com.
Together, we often feed off each-other's creative impulses or, sometimes, mutual boredom. As of late, he has been diving deeply into large format film photography for it's inherent honesty. I don't share his ambivalence of the digital arts, but I can't deny the magic of film either. Perhaps that is in my near future.
